Course Information: City and Guilds 7303 Level 3 and 4 (PTTLLS)About this courseThis course is an introduction to teaching, training and tutoring within the Lifelong Learning Sector and involves a practical exploration of the skills used to do so. This Unit covers initial understanding of teacher roles and responsibilities, an introduction to teaching and learning methods, the skills involved in lesson planning, delivery, assessment, record-keeping and the underpinning awareness of inclusivity and good practice.
The course is intended for those who work or want to work as:
* Teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector i.e. adult and
community education, work-based learning and the voluntary sector providing they are qualified experienced in the subject they intend to teach
* Technicians and support staff in further and adult education
* Training personnel in commerce, industry, the public sector, the uniformed services or HM forces
Course entry requirementsThere are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but the nature of both the learning and the assessment means candidates will be expected to have the literacy skills necessary to read and interpret written tasks, to write legibly and understandably and to organise information clearly and coherently. All candidates will be initially assessed and there will be opportunities to work towards L2 qualifications in numeracy, literacy and ICT during the course if necessary. (L2 is the skills level equivalent of GCSE pass at Grade C or above). What will I learn?To achieve the certificate learners must successfully complete two assessment tasks, one theory based and one practical, as part of a portfolio of work which will be externally verified. As part of their practical assessment learners will complete an observed micro-teach presentation in their chosen subject area. What should I do next?The qualification has a credit value of 6 (60 hours) on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and successful completion of this course may allow progression onto the City and Guilds 7304 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) at L3 or L4.
