“Safeguarding” is the duties and responsibilities that those providing a health, social or education service have to carry out to protect individuals from harm.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners, volunteers and staff. You have the right to feel safe where you learn.
MCL understands the need to safeguard all learners from harm including the risk from radicalisation and as such, we embrace the Prevent agenda. This does not mean we want to prevent you from having political and religious views but it is about keeping you safe and within the law.
MCL recognises the benefits and opportunities which new technologies offer to teaching and learning. However, the internet also has potential risks and dangers. If you would like to learn more about keeping safe online, speak to one of our Safeguarding Team.
If you are concerned about your safety, you can talk to your tutor or one of the safeguarding officers:

Karen Mackintosh Phone: 01642 354183

We are committed to ensuring that you have the right to feel safe where you learn.
Personal safety is important when you take part in any kind of learning.
You have the right to be and feel safe. People should not harm or abuse you, or threaten to do so.
There are staff available who are there to support you and make your place of learning safe.
