Level 3 Team Leader / Supervisor Apprenticeship

A Team Leader/Supervisor is a first line management role, with operational/ project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions, and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing, and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Entry requirements
Applicants should be capable of developing a range of management skills which will enable them to carry out the apprenticeship. Acceptance onto the programme will be subject to successfully completing a Recruitment Session and Initial Assessment. This is followed by an employer interview.

The apprenticeship is also available to existing Middlesbrough Council employees who are working in a suitable job role.

While Maths and English at Level 2 or GCSE Grade C (4-5) or above are desirable, these can be delivered as part of the apprenticeship.

Course content
Apprentices need to complete 20% off-the-job training during the on-programme phase of their apprenticeship. Specific rules govern this, and it must take place in the apprentice’s contracted hours.

Assessment Process

All apprenticeships are required to have an end-point assessment that is carried out by an independent body. Apprentices must pass the end-point assessment in order to achieve their apprenticeship and receive their certificate.
The End Point assessment for L3Team Leaders Supervisor is as follows:
Professional Discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence (collated during their work/study time), and a Presentation with questions and answers based on a topic set by the EPAO.

Grading/Certification

The Assessment is graded Pass or Distinction.
In addition to receiving their Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA) apprenticeship certificate, the apprentice will receive a ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management statement of achievement for end-point assessment.

Reviews

Your progress will be reviewed throughout your programme with meetings taking place every 10-12 weeks to assess the progress you have made or to identify any support you need. Reviews will involve you, your learning and development coach and your manager or mentor.

On completion of your apprenticeship you could progress into a more responsible career role and onto the L5 Operations Departmental Manager
