This course is aimed at members of the international community who have chosen Middlesbrough and the wider Tees Valley (Teesside) as their new home. This introductory course will allow learners to get a better understanding of British Values, local life and the local employment, education and training opportunities available to local residents. On completion, learners will feel more knowledgeable, confident, have new friends and know where to go for support if and when they need it.
This course will provide the BAME community the opportunity to work towards building their confidence in spoken English as well as improving their listening, reading and writing skills. Learners will improve their grammar, vocabulary and practise formal and informal English. The course will help learners to gain the skills and confidence to become independent members of the community and support children with their homework.
