‘Opportunity Knocks’ is the name for our new advice, guidance and signposting service available within Middlesbrough Council’s community hubs and libraries. All advice provided is free and impartial but some courses, qualifications and programmes may be restricted due to age, postcode, income or employment status.

- Access to Middlesbrough Council’s Sector Based Work Academies (training linked to council jobs).
- Searching and applying for apprenticeships.
Digital Skills
- Support completing online application forms for jobs, benefits, housing, healthcare, council tax etc.
- How to set-up an e-mail account, read and send an email and upload an attachment.
- Where to access price comparison sites to get the best deals on gas, electricity, interest rates and shopping.
- How to gain access to free Essential Digital Skills qualifications.
- Learn how to use digital devices to keep in touch with friends and family.
English and Maths
- Learn how to access free English and Maths courses and qualifications.
- Know where to access English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in Middlesbrough.
